This place has a whole vibe to it. Me being a person visiting this place for the first time was a very different experience. The whole architecture of the temple and its surroundings have a seamless vibe to it. The temple even though it's a landmark, blends harmoniously in the lives of the people and the area. The architecture of the temple, it's functionality and the culture can be seen vibrantly matching with the people. People from all walks of life come here for blessings and their belief in this place and God. This place offers that satisfaction to the people in a very very different way and the amalgamation of the people, the priests, the architecture, the flowers, the spaces, the entrances exits and the location of Gods all of it adds to the inner peaceful sense in you.
Very ancient temple in the heart of Chennai City at Mylapore. This is Sukra Sthalam. Rajaguru Sukrachariyar worshipped Sri Velleeswarar here to get back his lost eye sight. Those who have eye problems, apart from consulting the Eye Doctor, can visit this temple and seek the blessings of Sri Velleeswarar.
A big temple with many god's to pay our devotion. Main god is Lord Shiva. The temple has kodimaram also. If your are to visit Mylapore Kabaleeswarar Temple, visit this temple too. Many flower shops and fruit shoos in and around the entrance. There is also a token system to leave your footwear.
Shri Velleeswarar Shiva temple is on the southern side of Shri Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore. Opposite the main entrance is Siddhi Buddhi sameda Shri Vinayagar. Shiva is facing East. Shri Kamatchi Ambal is on the left side of Shiva temple, facing south.
Visiting this temple second time today. Was surprised about many things. 1. There is another Velleeswarar temple present near Mangadu Kamatchi Amman Temple and the slogan to get both the eye's back is pasted in that temple too. 2. Vinayagar is in standing position, first time seeing a vinayagar in standing position. 3. A beautiful sarabeswarar sannadhi present near the kodimaram. 4. Temple with two kodimarams. Temple seems to be cramped but still neatly done. Had a very good darshan, and temple seems to be very lively.
This temple is one of the Saptha Shiva Sthalams (7 important Shiva temples) of Chennai. It is located in Mylalore maada veedhi, right adjacent to Kapaleshwarar. Shiva here is called Velleswarar. It was at this spot that Sage Sukracharya prayed to Shiva to get his sight back. There is no parking outside the temple. You will have to park near Kapaleshwarar temple or any of the maada veedhis to visit the temple. There's a shoe stand available to keep your footwear outside.
The archanai ticket counter is kept behind office room. It is extremely difficult to go all the way in one round and coming back to cnnnnnnti for archanai. Resulting many do archanai without ticket. The temple vrumaannnm is reduced due to this. More over senior citizens finding it difficult to walk down and take ticket and again go to cnnnnnnti. Please restore the counter near the main entrance so that people can buy the arccnnnai ttikkett easily and there by temple also get more funds quickly This system should be brought back for the benefit of senior citizens pktaa . Pl action Reg MuralidharN
Nice temple to be in. Inspite of popular kapaleeshwarar temple very nearby, this temple attracts crowds. Thehe temple is old fashioned in structure. The deity from.kapaleeshwarar temple comes here from Pooja exclusively. The idols here are marvelously carved and are maintained properly. During fridays and SPL days the temple sees a lot of crowd. The temple is open clean and it's much smaller in size, Simone doesn't get that much free space to take rest and feel the peace. The functions to the deity are performed very auspiciously with a lot of grandeur. The temple is mostly closed from the top ,so one doesn't get the air circulated that much and might feel some discomfort at times. The Archana and other poojas are performed cheaply and one can get the necessary items outside the temple.

One of our favorite temple to have peaceful darshan. It's quite and no disturbance even if you sit for two hours in front of GOD. All are treated equally. Praying to HIM to have this place like this. Regards
I love this temple for its traditional way of performing pooja and all mantras are chanted in Tamil. This temple is fondly remembered as Chennai il Chidambaram. As Chidambaram here also they do abhishegam for maragatha lingam six times a day.
Amazing designer who customise and tailors the pieces so well ! The work she does is completely handmade and the outcome is really perfect. The blouses fit me beautifully and there was no alterations required.
