Temple seem to be old and has history importance with some Pandavas and Tippu Sultan linkages. It has been modified/modernized continuously but recently taken over by TN Govt. and they are getting it back to however original as possible.
Beautiful temple with Sri Prasanna Varadaraja Perumal and Thaayar as its deities....one can feel that magnetic presence around you inside the temple. Unfortunately the temple not maintained to its standard and as usual its under Hindu Endowment Board. Its a must visit place for those who seek inner peace and enlightenment.
Very pleasant and one of the oldest temples in Tamilnadu. Over 10000 yrs old temple with amazing carvings. Dashavatara, Narasimha avatara, Rama avatara and Krishna avatara is carved mind blowing. Varadaraja swamy idol is said to be installed by Arjuna in Mahabharata era. Watching alankara to lord Varadaraja is a festival to eyes.
It's a half day trip from Whitefield, Bangalore to Chikka Thirupathi and Shoolagiri. We started around 8 am and reached Chikkatirupathi by 9.00. We spent around 1 hour for Darshan. It's a small temple and neatly maintained. Better to have your breakfast before leaving the outskirts of Bangalore as you don't find many eateries on the way. Left the place around 10:30 and reached Shoolagiri by 11.30 am. Purohit stay in the same compound of the temple and it's free Darshan. The main deity is Sri Varadaraj Perumal with His consort Sri Maha Lakshmi. Both deities look stunningly pious and must visit place. This place also seems to have its connection to Gajendra Moksha. The small hiltop has three peaks, which has a resemblance to the place of Gajendra Moksha. (For details about this connection you may watch a detailed video by Sri Nanduri Sreenivas garu on you tube). After Darshan we started around 12 and reached home by 2:30 after a half hour break for lunch. So it's half day trip and very enjoyable. Please try.
This temple is on foothills of a mountain.. The temple is small, but it dates back to period of mahabharat . And folklore says arjuna did the pratishta of perumal Or vishnu in this temple. There is also a ammal sanniti and the priest said they do sarpa dosa pooja in here. The temple was not crowded. And it was a peaceful darshan.
Beautiful temple in the foothill and very near to the highway. The deity - Varadaraja Perumal is said to be worshipped by Arjuna i.e Dwapara Yugam. Visvaksenar, Nammazhwar and Ramanujar are also worshipped. Very less people visit the temple. Pls visit and get blessed.

Once - always the best coffee in town and i loved it, but now the quality of service is really down. See the pic of the spoon served in CCD!! more so the sweeper cleans the floor outside the shop, the wash room and the table with the same broom!! rig
