It has three thousand years of mythological history. Very old small temple. The ancient inscriptions and the beauty of the ancient idols are proof that this temple is very ancient. In the Sangam period, this hill was called Kochimalai. During this thala murugar festival, the chariot is pulled by a rope at the back when it comes down from the hill and when it climbs the hill, the front side is pulled by a rope. This temple is under the control of Palani Devasthanam. Boomparai village is 18 km from Kodaikanal. Arunagirinath has sung songs for Poomparai Murugan in his Tirupukazh. The temple is functioning under Palani Arulmiku Dandayupani Thirukovil for the most ancient temple. The temple is considered to be the greatest treasure temple. Very divine place located 20 kms away from Kodaikanal town. This place is worth visiting and the temple here is very powerfull and considered to be made of Navabashanam by Bogar before Palani. The road to reach this temple is very narrow so lot of time you encounter with traffic jam so plan accordingly. Ample car parking available around the temple.
