It was just wow from my first time visit to this temple. It was really beautiful and amazing temple the Gopuram was huge and beautiful. It's in heart of the city. Must visit temple when your in Salem city. Car parking they charge 30rs.

Koattai Mariamman, the goddess of Salem Had Kumbeshikam recently in 2023, got a makeover. Missing the old vibes of the temple, still better since the Karuvarai of main Deity of Amman has been lifted, earlier used to be below ground. Still some works are underway, visit via bus stand side or river side entrance to have lesser havoc. Situated nearby Old Bus Stand. August/Aadi festival is the prime festival and best time to visit the Temple. A new 20+ feet deity has been added near the river side entrance

It is located near Salem old bus stand and market area/heart of the city. The temple is one of the oldest pilgrimage centres of Salem and is situated on the banks of River Tirumanimuthar. The temple was built by Chera kings. The Mariamman deity (sanctum-sanctorum) is said to be one of the smallest in the state. But for the local people Kottai Mariamman is the powerful god. The temple premises looked small but the gopuram was huge.
