Arulmigu Kandaswamy Temple - Hindu temple in Thiruporur - Chengalpattu, India

This temple is located in Thiruporur. This lord is always divine and powerful. Every God has its own rules. The temple timing is a must during our visit. There is a separate paid car parking for 50rs next to this temple. The fee is high but does not have any covered sheets for sunlight. There is a pond in the entrance, and a dress change is also available. It's so iconic to visit this place in our lifetime.

Happened to visit this temple today. Upon entering we get the positive vibes and good air ventilation , more sculptures and temple is maintained very well neatly. Lord Murugan with valli and deivanai , Divine to visit

This temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan or Karthikeyan, located on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, approximately 45 km from Chennai city. This temple has been mentioned in Sri Kanda Sasti Kavacham. The temple has a beautiful tank. Temple belongs to BCE. The maintenance of HRCE is below standard, and one can see visibly poor maintenance. The temples in general in TN are poorly maintained. This is despite money taken by the HRCE for administration. The maintenance staff ask for the money.

Yet another Historic Murugan Temple from Pallavan Era. Very Spacious and fortunately it was not very crowded, despite it being a Sunday Murugan fought demons in three geographies - on land in Thirupurakundram, on sea in Thiruchendur and in air in Thiruporur. After slaying slaying Asura Shoorapadman in Thiruchendur, Murugan as Kandaswamy encounters Asura Thalayaya. He fights fiercely and kills him in the war carried out in Air (Ether). This signifies victory over Pride and arrogance and helps devotees to overcome these negative traits. Thiruporur gets its name after "Por" in Tamizh means war/battle waged by Murgan to vanquish Thalayaya asura. Tirupporur temple has Pallava and Chola inscriptions from as early as the 10th and 12th century respectively. There is an inscription on a stone pillar that confirms that temple must have been built by Pallavas because of the engravings, Atyantakama Pallava and Adiranachandra clearly attributable to Pallava Supremo, Rajasimha (Narasimha Varma II). Though it is clear that Tirupporur was its resplendent best during that era, it somehow fell off the glory in the interim until Thiruporur Adheenam Founder, Srimad Chidambara Swamigal, descendant of a poet of Madurai Tamil Sangam, acting on a vision he got of Madurai Meenakshi with instructions to restore and rebuild Temple for Murugan in Thiruporur somewhere around 17th Century. Some of the inscriptions also refer to Thiruporur as Samarapuri and Yuddhapuri (all meaning the same - Place of the battle)

Arulmigu Kandaswamy temple ise near Thiruporur sub registrar office, Thiruporur. It's situated approximately 15km from Siruseri. Can be traveled by bus/cab or share auto. While returning I got a shared auto and costed us about 30Rs per person. Ideal time for visiting the temple is morning 7 to 8:00 AM . This time Temple was free and had a good darshan. I would recommend to visit this place . It's peaceful and well maintained.

Good vibes when you started entering into the temple, everyone should know visit and know the history of the temple,Avoid on Tuesdays and Saturday rush than other days.

Pleasant and blessed to have a here. Archanai / Sankalpam to only urchavar. Archaigal rush the devotees to move soon. Could have seen idols better if not hurried. No rush when visited on a Saturday late evening. Huge prakaram. Huge temple tank. Dont miss to visit the vinagar at temple tank if the gate is open. Jaggery is sold everywhere. Jaggery should be thrown into the temple tank for removal of bealth issues.( i see this process at thiruvallur veera raghava perumal koil). Salt and pepper is also poured near the dhawajasthambam at entrance. Well maintained. Vendors are at reasonable pricing. Prasadham is available inside the temple.

One of the famous and powerful Murugan temples in Tamil Nadu.... All are maintained with care and regulations are good here and all poojas are done at timing. A little crowded on special days, so we can use special entrance which costs Rs. 20 per head. Archana ticket is Rs. 5 as in all temples. Prasadams are provided at a nearby front entrance.
