I tried misal .. taste was good.. service is fast and clean place .. good for quick bites ... Parking is an issue .. because of ongoing road traffic..last but not least i tried butter milk .. i dont like taste much .. because they serve plain buttermilk.. and i prefer masala buttermilk..
A hidden gem in pen for outsiders. If you are going to kokan via Mumbai Goa highway, please take time and go there. Their speciality is misal which is not very spicy, but simple in taste and you won't feel any acidity after enjoying it. One can also try their wada which is okay.
Well tried the 2nd time after 4 months to check whether I misjudged the 1st time. But too much water in the Misal. Green peas are boiled and separately added in the misal. Not worth the price.

Having heard a lot about their misal, I, along with a few friends rode 100km to Pen to check what's all the fuss about.
Located almost centrally in Pen, Appa Tandel is a well known name in the locality. The throng of crowd for breakfast was a testament to that.
We just ended up ordering their misal for everyone. There were a few things that we never saw before in a misal, for example, potato sabzi, like the one in a proper batata wada. The taste was decent, but what really stood out was the fine balance between maintaining taste and spice level.
The rassa came unlimited, which is a norm, and we enjoyed it immensely. In an interesting twist, we also ended up trying their sweet potato kheer which was okayish to be honest.
It's a quick in and out as the seating isn't big, but so is their service.
