Anugraham Women'sHostel - Hostel in Coimbatore - Coimbatore, India

I recently stayed at this hostel and my experience was mixed. On one hand, the accommodation itself was comfortable and the UPI scan payment option for fees was convenient. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the food, and found that the cleaning was not up to my expectations. The windows and curtains were dusted and cleaned very rarely, and the rooms were not cleaned properly. When I pointed out these issues, the cleaning staff gave excuses and didn't seem very responsive. One day, while waiting outside my room, the staff dusted the ceiling fan without informing me, leaving dust on my sheets. I have communicated these matters with the owner and warden. On the positive side, the hostel is located near a bus stop and there are convenience stores, medical shops, and a few cafes and dine-ins nearby. There is also a hospital within walking distance of approximately 10-15 minutes. It's worth noting that there is a curfew time of 9pm at the hostel. Overall, while the stay was comfortable, the issues with food and cleaning were a letdown. I would recommend this hostel with some reservations, and suggest that the management improve their cleaning standards and food quality to enhance the experience for hostellers.

Management is not good, food is not good , if you rise questions you will be cornered.

The warden behaves rude. Have to walk to the next buliding inside the gate to fetch water. No water facility is available within the building. It would be good if the RO is kept for each floor. However the rooms are cleaned and seperate cots and tables are available. There is no space to use tables for working. Wifi connection is so poor. Wifi couldn't be used even to send Or recive urgent emails. When I asked about this they behaved rudely. The menu is monotonous. Mess fees deduction will not be done even if you're not there for a month. Mess fees is compulsory. The rent is now increased. Food is good but gets over soon. They do have the Generator. But during power cut, even in summer the generator will not be operated. It is operated only during the mess work and cut down once the work is over at mess.

Stayed here from Aug 2017 to May 2018 and I had a bad experience. The rooms are well-ventilated and the inmates were given individual cots and tables. That's a good point. The food was average. Packed lunch never lasted beyond 1pm and they had a monotonous menu. After a couple of months, I started dining out pretty often. The milk served was was adulterated with so much water. Only common toilet facilities were available and they were cleaned only once a week. Both bathrooms and toilets in the first floor were pretty unhygienic. By the time I was leaving, some renovation work was going on the ground floor toilets, so maybe this situation has improved now. Drinking water was available only in the mess and we had to walk all the way just to fetch water. Upon our insistence, it was made available in the ground floor during nights but that water was sufficient enough to fill only three or four bottles. The worst thing about this hostel, is however, the owner. For a while, the food they were serving was spoilt and an inmate raised a complaint, got signatures from other inmates in the letter and produced it to the owner. The owner, in turn, got so offended, created a ruckus, accused the lady of bullying newcomers (she even came up with a story that is brilliantly laugh-worthy) and eventually got her kicked out of the hostel in a hush-hush manner (when the rest of us rebelled). I bumped into the lady on the road a few weeks later and she was doing so good for herself, thankfully. The warden, however was a decent person. I guess she didn't have much power there. I am not sure if things have changed much in the last two years (doesn't look like it though).

The hostel is spacious and rooms are clean. Food is not bad. But there are restrictions on food. They are just providing only a small bowl of gravy for main dishes (rice, chapati..etc). And even if we ask for extra they don't provide! And the milk they provide is like "Thanila paal konjo kami aa iruku". They provide less than 100ml of coffee in mornings and tea in evenings. And it tastes very bad. Its just like drinking hot water. And the people working in mess are showing faces when we ask for hot water. Seriously the owner is so stringy!!!

Nice rooms available. Reasonable cost. Food is the worst part. Cannot opt out of mess fee. Mess reduction wont be done at all. Same menu for over 3 years. Not-so-friendly warden. It has lots of place around to play/roam/workout. Located a little inside the streets. Easily accessible from Peelamedu. Very close to Peelamedu weekly market.

Stayed here for a month. Clean and safe. Food doesnot match with the fee though. Non veg items only once in a week. The curfew is 9:30pm and after that too its possible to stay out longer. No too much restrictions. The temple nearby might cause disturbance if you want to stay for mainly educational purposes.
