Architectural marvel, calm and beautiful place. Surrounding areas with garden maintained neatly and clean. Very good accessibility by road. Huge Nandi is so magnanimous. Also huge Shiva lingam almost 2.5 to 3 ft tall and powerful. Very minute and beautiful carvings are awesome

This is a nice ancient temple. The main attraction is the monolithic nandi in front of the main temple. There are beautiful carvings of different depictions of Hindu mythology. The complex and lawn is kept well maintained by the tourism department of Karnataka.

A magnificent temple in a small , quiet village . Built by Later Chalukyas , in 12th Century , the architecture adopts the Stellate Plan for the vimana, from base to top , a style which later became the signature model of the Hoysalas . The temple is named for the big reclining Bull in front of the east facing door . ( Dodda= Big Basava/Basappa = Nandi ) There is another entrance that is south facing too , Both doorways have intricately carved franes and lintels . The pillars in the interior are also well carved and the eye-catcher is a Makara torana for the garbgagriha . Temple and surroundings are well maintainted .

Doddabasappa Temple is a 12th-century Western Chalukyan architectural innovation in Dambal, The temple architecture is a star shaped. The sanctum contains a Shiva linga,soapstone is used as basic building material The temple has two entrances with a portico, one towards the east and the other towards the south The temple acquired the name Doddabasappa as it has the big bull (Doddabasappa) Nandi placed at the entrance of the temple.

Doddabasappa temple of Dambal is a great option if you are in Gadag or Lakkundi. Doddabasappa stands for big nandi which is sitting at the east entrance. Very unique architecture with 48 pointed star shape in 7 tiered mandap. Not sure if any other temple exist in this style. Reachable from Yadav by road (Own car or Taxi/ Auto can be hired from Yadav station) route easily followed on Google maps. Near the temple, there is no option to have water or snacks so prepare accordingly. Parking can be done on road outside the temple. It has finely carved half pillars, intricate work on the walls and very photogenic with beautifully maintained garden. Better to visit in 1Half of the day to have the sun facing the temple for good photos.

Good historical monument close to gadag you get here by bus many buses available from gadag bus stand to dambal.Travellers can also visit tapada bavi close to this temple .
