Ancient cave in Chowannur - Historical place in Kunnamkulam, Chowannur - Thrissur, India

Chovvanur Burial Cave is a prehistoric Megalith rock cut cave situated in Chowannur, of Thrissur District of Kerala. The cave can be accessed from single entry and its chamber is circular. The cave has a single chamber and two benches. The Archaeological Survey of India has declared this cave as centrally protected monument.

It is one of the megalithic sites found in Thrissur destrict of Kerala state. It is well protected under archeological department of India. This is a burrial site of megalithic men and strong indicator of human settlement in the area from that era. This consist of an underground chamber. Chamber has two stonebeds. Artifacts which were found inside are now removed and preserved by Archeology department. There are more caves in the nearby areas like this.
