Ananda Residency - Lodge in Kumbakonam - Thanjavur, India

Dear Readers, This is our first visit to Kumbakonam and first stay in Ananda Residency. We went for some temple visits. I spoke to Ranjini Madam and booked 2 rooms for 5 members of our family. Paid the token advance as well. All these happened without being there before and just happened over a couple of phone calls. She was very courteous and responsive for my calls and room confirmation. Reached Kumbakonam and this hotel is just walkable distance from Bus Stand. The street where the hotel is situated is neat and clean. But from Bus Stand to the hotel street, the lanes were not that clean. Need to see if there is any other way (via main road) to come to this hotel. Hotel has a big fully covered car parking. May accommodate 5 - 6 cars for sure. Front desk person was very courteous and the room service boys also very polite. We weren't able to meet Ranjini madam. The rooms were very neat and clean. Pleasant looking. Very calm atmosphere. The surrounding was very quiet. The rooms were big enough to accommodate three people very comfortably. Bed was good. Washroom was very neat and clean. AC worked well. All over, this was a nice and calm stay for us at Ananda Residency. Whenever we visit Kumbakonam again, I made sure that we will be staying at this hotel only. Thank You, Kannan K. Good place to stay.. Rooms were neat and washrooms were quite clean.. The location is also near to the railway station and bus stand..!!! Lifts were also available!

Had a wonderful time and perfect for family stay, only thing need to keep in our mind is this residency don't have dining and we need to have food from other restaurants near to bus stand. I won't advise to have direct visit to hotels as the place is clumsy and foul around bus stand. Go for online food orders.

Very close to the bus stand. Car parking is available both inside and outside the hotel. But the approach road is poor. The hotel is well maintained with a lift facility. Family rooms are very spacious with two bathrooms. Double occupancy rooms are also spacious. No attached restaurant.

Hotel is good, rooms are neat, staff are well behaved. It is walkable distance from the bus-stand. Only thing is, streets are a bit narrow, will be difficult to take a big car like a 7 seater. But has ground floor parking enough for 4 to 5 cars.

Best place to stay peacefully for family. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Ample car parking space available. Hot water was available from 6 am to 8 am; and they provide it at anytime on genuine request basis. This place is surrounded by residents and walk-able distance to the bus stand. Preferable payment mode is cash.

We stayed there for 3 days, such a bad experience. Not at all peaceful stay. No restaurants nearby. They are providing used towels and used bed spreads, dirty pillows. Not spacious. Just added one single cot below the tv area and showing as triple bed room. There is no fan for that extra single bed. A/c and fan are very nearby, so air is not circulating throughout the room. For providing such service they can say that they are not having triple bed room, so that guest can take double room and one extra floor bed so that we can save the space by folding it during day time. Since they put the single cot there is no space at all and I have not seen anywhere putting a cot just below the tv. Tv speaker also not working, audio was not clear. Also not seen any room in my experience without wardrobe. Windows are not accessible to open, no lock for windows so they put cello tape to close it. Whole night lizard was making sound and ants were there in all our things and clothes. Very very bad experience. They have only one staff so not cleaning and washing everything once the guest leave. New guest will get to stay only in used bedspreads and bathroom. Not worth for rs. 2200 per day. We wasted our money for 3 days rs. 6600 and providing the bill only if we insist. Billed amount also wrong and they are charging high.
