A must visit museum in Shimoga dist. It is located just 10 kms from Shimoga city in a place called Lakkinakoppa enroute to NR pura. A good collection of old coins and historical articles by a historian and nature lover Sri. Khandoba Rao, created in the memory of his wife Yashoda. It has a beautiful hall very suitable for meetings and gatherings. They also have a canteen in the premises where tea/high tea can be arranged for the gatherings.
"Amulya Shodha" priceless Discovery, Indeed it's a journey into our past and discover the priceless coins, antiques of malenadu, utensils, everyday utility items and what not . The place is impeccable. The museum is totally built and Maintained by the untiring efforts of Mr. Khandoba Rao,a professor and Historian.Visit with family and friends for a peek into the past. Totally worth it.
Amulya Shodha is a Unique place located just 10 km from the Shimoga city enroute to NR PURA. Or the way to BRP. Built by Shri Khandoji Rao in the memory of his beloved wife who was a history lecture. Couples always wanted to contribute something to younger generation which ignites their interests towards the history. Rao sir has designed the museum in such a way that the coins tells story themselves from as ancient as 2500 year old. The information along with coins is so interesting that you would want to spend as much time as you want. Usually he is available on Sunday evening and explains to visitors himself. We were lucky to have him explain us. Functional Gramophone is an amazing experience. The gardens outside, kuvempu statue all are such amazing pieces. I wish more and more people visit the place and learn history. Definitely recommend this place as on the top 5 must visit places of Shivamogga.
'Amulya Shodha', a musuem near Shivamogga (15 Kms from shivamogga on the way to NR PURA), built by history lecturer - Prof.Khandobarao, in memory of his wife, Yashodha, who was also history lecturer. 'Amulya Shodha', as the name itself suggests, is an invaluable search for lost values and culture of the bygone days. It showcases rare paintings of Ravi Varma, coins, inscriptions, manuscripts, weapons, all used by popular kings. A must visit place if you are planning to visit Shivamogga!!! Entry fee is 50 INR only. A small hotel with snacks n lunch facilities. Sufficient toilet rooms. I recommend you to visit on Sunday's so that you can get proper n detailed info of the precious items, coin collections n many more from the Professor. Such a down to earth person he is & hyperactive in this age too !!! Photography not allowed inside the Museum. #AmulyaShodha #AncientIndia #HistoryOfIndia #Shivamogga #malenadu
This place is every Historian's delight. Along with old coins, we can get a glimpse of everyday utensils from the 1st to 19th century, list includes, numerous coins from various countries, kitchen utensils, guns, gramaphones (in working condition), guns, cameras, musical instruments, cannons, etc. Spending 1 whole day will also be less if you are interested in knowing the history of places, in and around Shivamogga. Mr. Kandoba Rao is the man behind building this amazing museum. Totally worth spending, especially for history students, enthusiasts and Ph.D scholars. Entry fee of Rs.30/- is levied per person. Entry open on Sat, Sun, Mon and all Govt. Holidays.
