Nice place to drive. Spotted peacocks, wild bores, gray Langurs, and one tiger(We must be lucky).
Very beautiful and interesting to drive
This stretch of the road (NH 17) is as wild as it gets - yet the designated wildlife reserve area - Amaravathi Reserve Forest - is cordoned off with barbed wires to keep the wild animals away from the traffic along this interstate highway. The Pambar river from Kerala, flows into the Amaravathi Reservoir and flows further downstream named as the Amaravathi River. The hilly area features shrubs and landslides during the rainy season. While travelling through the Udumalpet road, often peacocks can be seen and heard. There are reportedly leopards and elephants that frequent this forest adjoining the Amaravati reservoir. This Reserve Forest is part of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve that belongs to the state of Tamilnadu.
