Had been here for couple of times, my grandfather underwent a cataract surgery under Dr Alex. Dr was very professional and was friendly. But the problem lies with the front office where we have to wait for so long to see the doctor. I would say it's too horrible sometimes as we might have to stand for so long as the seats would be fully occupied, especially the problem lies with the first inspection room called Refraction room where they take too much time. Thereafter we need to wait until and unless the staff asks us to go to upstairs for docter consultation. Even though they had appointments,but that's just for the name sake.

Alphonasa Eye Hospital is one the best Eye Hospitals in Thodupuzha where we will get all services to our eyes and eyewear. A good parking space is available, we can pay here using card, cash and UPI. We can buy lenses and frames from here. I recommend this place because they provide services from highly qualified doctors.

Positives first: 1. The doctor I met here was friendly and was a professional. 2. They have got adequate parking at the back. So you don't have to worry on that. Not so positives: 1. Never dare to try the optical shop inside the hospital. It is too costly! Compared to other optical shops in the town who offers minimum 12 to 15% discount on MRP (mind you, this stands for "MAXIMUM" Retail Price and they go by the true sense of the word Maximum!), If you insist they might give you a 4 to 6% discount. I had placed order for a Zeiss lense on 01 October 2021. When I mentioned other optical outlets are giving 12 to 15% discount, they offered me a 6% final discount after a number of consultations with their "Sir". I declined the offer, because after taking that paltry discount, my conscience wouldn't have allowed me to write a fair review. May be this might help a few people. 2. When I say other shops are offering much higher discounts, I am saying it with conviction. Because couple of days after the consultation here, my wife also wanted to change her glasses. We went to a different shop just because in Alphonsa they had only very limited and cheap type of frames to offer. I was amazed because, this shop gave us 12% discount on same type of Zeiss lense and a frame . Plus they gifted us an American Tourister laptop bag free! (I am not mentioning the shop's name here, because otherwise it will be alleged that I am their man!). That was an eye opener on the huge margins these people have for lenses and frames! 3. Lastly, I had placed the order at Alphonsa on 01 October 2021 and it was finally delivered to me after 13 days!! When I went back after a week to collect my lense, the lady at the counter was clueless. It was when I showed my receipt that she started calling the Zeiss guy to find out the status only to put all blame for delay on the Zeiss company While the other shop took just 4 days to deliver the finished glasses, from the same company. So much about their customer service! My suggestion: Visit the doctor there, but never buy your frames and lenses from them. You will save at least a couple of thousands!
