Only two walls of the fort remain now. Like most forts, this one is also built on elevated land, offering an expensive and breathtaking view of Akola City. One side offers a glimpse of the river where cows idly bathe, while on the other side you will see the majestic Raj Rajeshwar temple and the rest of the city. No charges to visit the fort but parking may be difficult to find.
For a historical monument The place looked totally neglected . The view from the fort of Akola city and the Morna river was good but closer look revealed heaps of garbage and totally polluted waters of Morna river, full of filth . It was big big disappointment . It reeked of total neglect and apathy of the administration . If ever there was an example of how NOT to maintain an historical monument Akola Fort or Asadgarh fort , as it is also called , is a classic example. Left the place with a heavy and saddened heart .If you are the type to say " I was there" risk it .Otherwise a visit is not recommended it will only spoil your mood....
A look into the past, a glimpse of the Old City of Akola. Also called Asadgad fort. Near it is the famous Qila Masjid (Fort Mosque). There is Azad Park and Old Eidgah (Hariharpeth Eidgah) also nearby. Worth visiting to marvel at it architecture which stands even after centuries.

Very much neglected place by local people.. Govt put railings on edges, however people stole those bars. Smokers and tobacco chewing people gather for their timepass at monument... No security personal to stop them though te police station is next to it.. Appreciate govt atleast to took the initiative to create garden area for locals..
No maintenance nothing ,it's just looking like hill built by rocks and nobody doing anything to keep it clean and popular ,it's getting old and loosing walls and government doing nothing to maintain it.
It's an historic place in AKOLA City . There is no maintenance broken walls and ashok pillar and cleanliness. It's nice to look at the river with high faith
