Nothing much to see on this fort. Not at all well maintained. Quite disappointed visiting here. I hope if our government can contribute something to maintain this fort then definitely more tourists will come here. Youtube/TravellerKP

The fort is in the city with all the food and transport facilities. If you love history the forts is the best for you as it is not properly maintained, we need to find the monuments literally in the 5 feet grass.

Instead of picnic spot, i admire fort are the source of inspiration and positive vibes. We have to visit all our fort in sahyadri range with our family and friends to recall our historical heroes. Visit fort with your kids and tell them on shivaji maharaj and maratha history so they can learn better with live location. Best to visit 365 days if you are truely maratha. In mansoon this location was on the peck. Easy to access and you can drive your vehicle almost to the entrance. Lots of people came here for morning walk and workout. Satara is lucky to have such a beautiful fort, so near the city. Many people go there for a morning trek daily. Natures beauty and history must make us humble. Shivaji Maharaj ki jay.

The view of satara city looks very beautiful .Fort trek is not so difficult . It is 3 km near from Satara bus stand . you can reach here by auto. This fort was built by the Maratha king .

1000 years and still standing tall. Witness to rich history that dates back to 1100ad. More information needs to be displayed at the fort to through light on the glorious history of the fort even before the Maratha Empire. Also how the fort played important role in shaping the Maratha empire

What a historical place. This fort is said to be built around 4 centuries prior to Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj, and it was captured by Maharaj from the Mughal hold in his time. Ajinkyagad, as it is originally called, was built by the Raja Bhoj Shilaahar(II). This was one of his 12 forts which he built, including the huge Panhala Fort. Ajinkyatara was later recaptured by Shri Shahu maharaj (the first) but it later fell in the hands of the British (sadly). Ajinkyagad has beautiful temples of Shri Mahadev, Manglai devi and Hanuman. It also has a very old wada like structure inside, which is in sheer ruins. The Dakshin dwaar or the South Gate is rebuilt recently using metal sheets and paint, but the Original uttar dwar is the wooden one (it's huge!) Judging from the bricks, there's a structure here which was probably built after the late 17th century. I genuinely think more repairing and conservation should take place of this fort.
