Ahiron Wetland - Wetland in Ahiran - Murshidabad, India

The wetland is one of the richest biodiversity spot of the district. Lots of migrant birds come here specially lesser whistling duck, red crested pochard, ruddy shel duck. You can watch Indian moorhen, common coot , cormorants, local birds everytime every moment etc. Lots of local indeginous fishing species also is there like tangra, shol, Lata, bata, rui, katla, magur, jiol, puti , chanda, kholse , Veda, ghagor etc . So it is full of diversity. But but the problem is the area is open and no trees is there. Land is cultivated by the local peopl at winter. Mostly the water level is very low and in winter water dried and lake is come to water less. It needs reform of the lake and the river connection is also need which was at the times ago . And the will of Government is mainly needed at this time.

Beautiful birds are usually can be trace at this place but Government neglecting this important place since many days and it is now in it's demolishing stage.

Could have been a quality tourist spot if administration would have paid a little more attention...Anyway it's a nice natural spot to roam for couple of hours..recommendable for bird photography in murshidabad particular

Different types of Birds in several season, mainly in winter comes here from different country. This is the only wetland in Murshidabad as well as West Bengal big in area.
