Ahalia Heritage Village - Heritage museum in Elappully - Palakkad, India

We had an opportunity to visit Ahalya heritage village and museum on 31st October, 2023. I never knew that such a wonderful place showcasing our heritage and culture existed near Palakkad, my hometown. The place is located at the foot of the magnificent Western ghats and surrounded by the grandeur of the landscape. The village is very clean and beautifully designed. It was a great experience and time well spent. We were honoured to meet Dr. Vijay Kumar Varma, Director of the heritage village who accompanied us on the tour of the entire place. We were truly mesmerized by his depth of knowledge of our heritage and culture. His narration about the various paintings, murals, terracotta sculptures and the granite sculptures depicting different mythological stories infused life in the sculptures and enriched our experience. We were also lucky to witness the National Sculpture Symposium where many renowned artisans from all over India had come to showcase their talent. I would also like to mention here about an intern there, Ms.Adithya who is an archeologist and museologist. She also accompanied us and shared some interesting stories about the murals displayed in the mural gallery. Overall it was a day well spent. I would highly recommend people to visit this place to get an opportunity to know about Kerala art and cultural heritage.

I'm here in Alaila last 2 months but now I got to chance to visit this beautiful place called heritage village, must visit place in palakad actually not in palakad in kerala .. many things to see the view u see here is different level, adding few pics but definitely I will visit here some more times then will add more pics ... it's near to lake villa .!!!!

One of the best place to know and experience different kinds of culture , art , old practices and history of kerala. So many art works are exhibited in different places. I think it's a good place for study tour for school level students. They will also arrange other facilities as per demand.. need to walk a lot & very hot climate so keep necessary things in hand. Battery cars are also available

lot of space to walk for mass... nature friendly atmosphere and historical museums are there.. best place for photoshoot.

Ahalia Campus is undoubtedly a great campus. It is worth a visit. You have all the facilities that you require inside. Distanced at around 28km from Palakkad town and nearby to Walayar check post, it is a great campus with hospitals engineering colleges, IIT - Temporary campus and a lot more. Ahalia heritage village is near the guest house/apartments. Inorder to enter the village you need to get tickets. It could be booked online but it is not difficult to get a ticket from the ticket counter near the entrance. ( If you belong to any Ahalia Institution, they might even give you a discount!). Once entered you can roam around enjoying the greenery and lots of exhibitions and museums. If you are a fan of art or music or a bit of both, Ahalia heritage village can certainly entertain you. There are lots of stone sculplture, art gallery museum, Caricatures, Music instruments etc. Dont miss out the sculptures of some of the eminent personalities which are really impressive and life-like. Terracotta museum is also undoubtedly one of the chief attractions of the place. It is worth a day to visit and enjoy the beauty of the place. Highly recommended.

Ahalia heritage village is located in the Ahalia heritage , knowledge, and health Care centre PALAKKAD. There is a small entrance fee to the heritage centre. IIT PALAKKAD transit campus is also located in this giant centre of Ahalia Group. The heritage village is actually a feast to eyes for tourists, plenty of ancient cultural depictions are spread throughout the heritage village. The Koothamabalam , the terracotta museum, the museum of musical instruments all are so beautiful.

Such a beautiful place . Well maintained. A must place to visit . Greenery, art etc amazing it is.
