This bird sanctuary is close to pune solapur and Ahilyanagar. Birds can be located in ujni dam are mostly migratory birds like flamingos, herons, raptors. One can have a variety of birds including migratory birds.More than 230 species of migratory birds are found here, including painted storks, bar-headed geese and osprey's. These birds are present in the winter season between December and March. Amazing experience!!

This is a MTDC authorized resort. Although it is a resort, it has been constructed by respecting the surrounding. Located at very approachable distance once you enter the village. There is parking space around the location for light motor vehicles. There is a provision of night stay. Owner is warm & welcoming. They have provision of veg & non-veg meals along with the breakfast. The food is native & delicious. They also arrange the boat rides & jungle visits. Bird lovers do not miss the book on counter compiled by owner himself. It has list of all the migratory & native birds along with their basic information. Owner & other staff has a good knowledge of bird species.

Amazing place for birding near Pune. The village name is Kumbargaon, and on the banks of Ajni dam. Super congregation of birds.

Went on a half day ride in the glasslands of bhigwan ..had the pleasure to encounter a pack of wolf and my favourite Indian eagle owl and lots of francolines,quails.overall good experience

I went to this place mid of jan for birding. I had one of the best experiences so far. The host, Sandeep Nagare, has fairly priced food and stay for an exceptional birding experience. Each room can be shared by 2-3 person. He himself an expert, Sandeep has experienced and knowledgeable guides who show you most of the raptors like Harriers, Steppe Eagles, Greater Striped Eagles, Kestrels, Sparrowhalks, Eagleowl and local birds in the area. If you are lucky can sight animals too like wolf, fox, civet cat etc. You can do night trials too and spot chameleon, civet cat, nightjar etc. The boat ride along the backwaters is also exceptional and one can see waders throughout. If you are going for photography been bag & tripod is must. Carry your cap, towel to cover yourself & gears as you will be in full sun & UV sunglasses too. Avoid weekends as it's crowded like sunday bazar Sandeep Nagare (our host) has a newly built homestay with clean living rooms and an open vehicle parking lot, where you could park many vehicles. You could get a Marathi veg and non-veg cuisines for dinner and breakfast. You could also pay by GPay. You can take your own car or take public transport (bus is best), get down in stop & take auto to the homestay. Jan mid was not best time to spot flamingo as hardly few juvenile flamingo sports that time. Try to visit in March to see good numbers of flamingo. Do not miss starling murmuration in sunset. I really loved their fish curry & fry. Even chicken was good. Breakfast might be a trouble incase you travelling very far in morning for spotting raptors as no nearby hotels give u proper food except misal pav. For boating you get packed poha & boiled eggs as breakfast. Hot water to drink was provided as per request. Network coverage was very good so no need to worry abt calls n data (no wifi). There may not be evening snacks except chai & biscuit. Overall a great birding experience with Sandeep Bhai. If you are in Pune do not miss this place(2.5 hrs journey). I will also visit again.

We were lucky to have found the right place at Bhigwan which provides the best bird watching experience with descent accommodation options and delicious home made food. Sandip and his family is totally committed to provide the best service to the customer. Both Morning Evening Boat trips were great and Our Tour Guide Abhishek was very energetic young Man who helped us spot a lot of birds apart from flemingos. Don't Miss the short Night Safari where You can spot couple of Unique birds with Wild Cat if You are lucky! Accommodation options are basic but clean and hygenic.

A boating and birding experience awaits you here. With expert guides and trained eyes, you'll not miss much. You'll find boarding and lodging as well. Home cooked food and safari too is an option here. Friendly local folks make it a top choice. Busy at all times, sometimes you may find the place lacking in service and attention.
