We ordered two pothichor which was served in normal plates instead of in banana leaf. Everyone else there at that time were eating from banana leaf but us. There were people who were eating biriyani in banana leaf and the traditional Kerala meals were served in plates. Really felt discriminated when we saw other people having same pothichor in banana leaf. When asked we were told that we should have asked for banana leaf. Personally I think if not served in banana leaf it is just a meal and not worth the money. Would never come back to this place because of this unpleasant experience. However the food is good but the tables were not well cleaned. If you are visiting this place and want authentic Kerala food please ask specifically to be served in banana leaf.
We had yellukappa puzhungiyadhu, beef ulathiyadhu ,beef roast, puttu(rice) and sulaimani.. Food was delicious and with exact kerala taste. We tried for dinner. I would recommend Achayathis restaurant for those who want to taste kerala style food
Traditional Kerala cuisine. I really like the ambience and the service team. They are really good. But not happy with the food quantity for the price they tagged for pothi chooru Rs 250 and I didn't get anything additional except a cup of beef fry along with Meals. No papadam, acharu and chamanthi taste could be better...
The food is so good that I wanted to give it a 5 star but the service is so laidback giving it a 2 star is a struggle. 25% of my order did not reach the table and billed then I had to get the bill revised. This means there is no coordination or communication between the server and the kitchen. But I will not ask to avoid this place just because the food served was soo good. My suggestion: Keep time in hand and expect delay in service, you may need to ask multiple times for your order but when it arrives on your table... It will not disappoint you.
Everytime i used to order food from here they never made me disappointed Always best Kerala food in Chennai highly recommend quantity and quality is not sacrificed
Food was good but kizhi biriyani was not as expected so 4 stars
Okay so firstly the food, veg meals was OKAY especially credits to the rasam just amazing!!! The sambhar was also very tangy and tasty just the way i like it. Coming to the sides, very less in number especially for the price of 220 way too costly. There is no sweet dish with the meal unlike other cheaper restaurants and the SERVICE WAS SLOW. We went to have a meal for an hour ended up staying there for 3 HOURS!! The waiters are very less in number and highly confused with what they do. They say they will bring and end up avoiding you. Since its a non veg restaurant, the place reeked of fish and a mix of everything. Very bad stench! For vegetarians, highly no no!!! The food is also VERY COSTLY! Compared to the quantity and the quality you can get far better than that in other restaurants. Especially with such a huge waiting time for the food to come not worth it. Maybe for non veg lovers, but I wouldn't recommend going there twice. Not worth the money or time! Please note, We had to cancel more than 3 items just because of the delay in serving.!!! VERY BAD SERVICE!!! And the restaurant wasn't even full, hardly 2-3 tables occupied , so why the slow service?
Achayathi's serves food that tastes as if it was made right at home. Had visited there on a rainy Saturday afternoon, was craving for some Kerala style biryani. The menu was surprisingly chock a block with quintessential malayalee delicacies, from Pazhampori to Parotta and what caught my eye was Kallumakaya (mussels). I've never eaten Kallumakaya at a restaurant here in Madras, and was excited on trying it out. We'd ordered Kerala parotta, Beef Varutharachath, Kallumakaya roast, Beef Biryani. The Parotta was crisp and flaky. The curry was well spiced but not spicy. The parotta had soaked up all the gravy and the beef was soft. The biryani was wonderful, reminded me of what I get back home The rice was light, the masala was a bit spicy and had a bit of sweetness from the onions. Kallumakaya was the surprise of the day. It was fresh, a bit sweet, soft (not chewy) and the masala was very good. All in all a wonderful meal with quick and efficient and homely service. Will definitely visit again.
