Sunshine Theater Live music venue

Great venue, great mix of shows. Clean and comfortable inside, doesn’t have the stench of stale booze and vomit like ask the spots downtown used to. Security does a great job keeping everyone safe, but staying invisible when not needed. Amazing how fast they clear out and clean up after the show. Obvious improvements over how it used to be.

I had never been to this venue. I got tickets and invited a friend. We looked up the seating chart and found there was a mezzanine, so we planned to aim for that because I have a bad knee. When we arrived, the line was moving quickly even though it wrapped a third around the building. They did not allow me to take in my water bottle, so I had to discard it. We went in, and the signage was a bit lacking. Nobody could tell me how to get up to the mezzanine, and the bathrooms are upstairs - narrow and steep stairs. We found out no seating was allowed upstairs. So there were probably 2 dozen tables scattered around, and they had all been claimed when we finally arrived. After grabbing a drink at the bar, we found a couple of ladies willing to share their table, and we ended up center stage behind the sound team. It was great! The floors were extremely sticky to the point I had to struggle to move the stool. The stools are metal with no backs and the tables are round and maybe seat 4, but they were very close together and the lady behind me complained that I was in her space, eventhough I was trying to remain as far away as possible. There were maybe 3 inches between our stools, and it was unavoidable. The sound was awesome, I loved the atmosphere. The cooling system finally started working about 8pm, and it was much more tolerable than before. There was a decent sized dance floor, but there were so many people, it was difficult to fance at all. The building has an amazing Baroque style stained glass window and boasts a true disco ball! I would attend more events here if they were to open the mezzanine.

The theatre is really pretty on the inside, but the acoustics are terrible and the bathrooms are disgusting. 🤢 I really enjoyed the band I saw, though! And they do keep the ticket prices reasonable!

I flew in from out of state specifically to see my favorite band at The Sunshine and this place was such a disappointment. The show Peach Pit put on however was amazing but given the unneccesary plastic partitioning (see giant diamonds on partition in photos below) put up at this venue I and many others had limited visibility to watch the show. This entire establishment made the user experience poor - very limited bathrooms, rude staff, unneccesary rules not allowing drinks in the main area of the entire venue, etc. I would never come back here and not recommend you to come here either.

Ive been here twice but both times was a great time. Not a big place but great sounds. 2 bars one in the actual theater and 1 outin foyer area.

Good sound but security is lax and the bar routinely over serves. Had a drunk dude come from the upstairs after getting wasted and try to fight me and my son up front for his spot at the stage rail. Security removed him but before the close of the show, I took a kidney transplant inch and the dude was back. Up-front security guys said they could believe that he was let back in. Any escort! Nope. Told “do what you gotta do.” Allowed to exit the back, nope. Told “handle it in the street”. This is not the first I have seen them over serve. They actually over served me once and at least I don’t start fights or drive after, but I had to check myself after that experience. The no re-admittance policy is clearly not a safety think as they don’t mind serving people till they fall over. It’s not about people leaving and getting lit somewhere else and coming back. The door security was cool with the pat downs but the bar has to have a limit and they should never allow a troublemaker back in after bouncing them.

Sunshine Theater is always a blast! One of my favorite venues, for sure! The entire night is always life-changing. One of the few venues that you can get close enough to the performing artists to get an up close and intimate concert experience!
