Holiday Inn Express Springfield Downtown, an IHG Hotel Hotel

My family had an outstanding stay that surpassed our expectations in every way. Due to a schedule change on my part, I had 3 rooms reserved for 2 consecutive nights under 6 separate reservation numbers. The Holiday Inn reservation call center told me this was necessary because the hotel was fully booked and we would have to check-out in the morning and switch to different rooms, which would have been a huge inconvenience. We arrived at the hotel on a very busy weekend when several local events and college graduations were taking place. Jess at the front desk immediately recognized that my original booking was not ideal and discussed it with the hotel general manager. He was able to merge our reservations so we did not have to change rooms. It took some time to process all the changes, and through it all Jess was very friendly, patient, and acted with great poise. Our rooms were updated and very clean and comfortable. I slept better on the mattress and bedding than I have at other higher end properties. The rooms were quiet and we had no issues with excessive noise. Parking was convenient. Overall, an excellent property!

The hotel gets four stars: The rooms were spacious, clean, and modern. The hot breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly. Location gets one star: The hotel is in a very diverse neighborhood. Some people might not feel completely safe. A lot of cars drove around with obnoxiously loud music and motorcycles revving their engines. I’ve stayed at many places before, but this is by far the loudest. The hotel was great just not sure if I would stay again because of the location.

Staff was extremely accommodating and polite. From early check in to late check out options. Breakfast was great. The new pool rules I was a little concerned but it seemed like everyone followed them. The rooms were exceptionally clean as well. It was also pretty quiet considering there was a gymnastic dance and hockey all this weekend. We will be back

We had a very nice overnight stay here. The front desk folks were pleasant. We had a room on the 5th floor. As others have noted, this is in an older area of downtown Springfield. The Mass Mutual Center is across the street, and MGM casino is a couple of blocks away. We were able to walk to a fantastic restaurant, Nadim's on Main Street. There is quite a bit of restoration going on of the historic city blocks. Our room was comfortable, the beds were great, and the bathroom was squeaky clean. We found a parking space in the smaller lot right behind the building. The included hot breakfast was ample, with a good variety of items. This is definitely one of the better Holiday Inn Express properties we have stayed at, and I am a platinum IHG member.

The property is modern and in good shape. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was pretty good, too. It's conveniently located within a few blocks of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, MGM Springfield Casino, MassMutual Center and the Springfield Museums. What more could you want? I'll tell you, actually: a room that actually got dark at night. We had a corner room and light crept around the curtains on both sides; the smoke detector flashed like a strobe light every few seconds, and it was like a spotlight was shining in under the door. Aside from that, we enjoyed our stay.

I left a cell phone charger in the room where I was staying and, of course, the housekeeping staff could not find it. The room was decent, but there was nothing that this hotel staff and manager did to help me get my property back, even when I called within hours of leaving the hotel. In addition, the points offered by IHG or the manager didn't did not amount to anything. I stayed at a different local hotel for the next several nights.

Jess at the front desk was amazing with greeting and check in. Room was clean and wonderful, nice and cool, comfortable beds, no complaints! I would definitely stay here again.

Evening receptionist failed to log me in as an IHG member despite my providing her with my member number. Thus we were provided with no membership rates or points. The morning receptionist tried to correct this but said she was unable to do so because my stay was already paid and completed. I was very disappointed in their efforts and lack of compulsive efforts. Sorry to have to report this since we usually enjoy our stays at IHG establishments.
