I hate to write a review like this, but I wish I would've known before we booked our stay here. We took a group of high school students in late May for a competition at MSU. We chose this hotel because of the proximity to MSU, the kitchens and the pool. We booked three rooms, two which were suites. One suite was located next to a long term guest with a big dog. The dog was locked up alone and barked nonstop. The front desk said there was nothing they could do because it was a long term customer. The other suite had a broken frame on the door. You could barely shut it, let alone lock it. We stayed one night because we came in late and were tired. The next day, we found out they were not supposed to rent the room because of the lock. We looked at several other rooms, chose the best option and moved. The next room locked, but the frame was coming out of the wall. One good shove and the door would be pointless. The furniture was stained. The kitchen had only a few mismatched dishes and the appliances were dirty. The housekeeper (very sweet) tried very hard to clean for us, but the suite was just battered. ||||The laundry room was out of order and very, very dirty. The grounds were run down. The business center was indefinitely closed and the printer was broken. The breakfast was basically nonexistent, but the coffee was good. The pool was closed, even though they said it was open when we booked. (We asked several times.) They had free WiFi but it was extremely slow and often not working. The hotel is very run down and in desperate need of a complete makeover. I could go on, but the photos give a clear picture of the condition of this property. ||||The second day, they rebooked our first suite (with the broken lock) to another visiting family. One of the children got locked inside and the staff had to go through a window to open the door. What a safety nightmare! The staff was nice but it just didn't make up for the horrible conditions of this hotel. It will take a lot of love to get this place back on track. Be leary of the positive reviews. Have a back up hotel, just in case.

I stayed here for 3 nights and was sadly disappointed. i stayed in a queen studio. The room was relatively clean but the towels were ancient. The rooms are dated 1980's / early 90's and the bedding is worn. The WiFi worked. There was a definite odor in the room--mold, beer, something. Not strong but always there. That's about as good as it got. The rest was downhill.||The pool which was advertised was locked and full of slimy water. The laundry room was hideous. There was dirt, lint and bark chips (from the outside pathways) all over the floor. The laundry tub was full of trash and lint. There was no running water and soap slopped over the top of the machines. More lint and no waste basket. I complained to the young man at the desk who went over and wiped off one washer, a counter and took away old food left by someone. I thought maybe someone did washing after a camping trip and didn't clean up. Essentially nothing else was done the duration of the stay. Filthy. My room was never cleaned the last night. I complained. I also ask for a reduction in the room fee since services were not provided. A college student working the desk said he'd ask the manager, but he wasn't there. The next day when I checked out there was still no manager there. I paid full fee for this awful place. The breakfast is cold prepackaged food and very little selection. In general, I would never go back there and I can't see why the health department doesn't look closely at this place. Save your money and frustration

We were in E Lansing for the MSU School of Law graduation. Our reservations were changed due to maintenance problems and there our adventure begins. We reserved three rooms but when we checked in we only had one studio available. AJ at the front desk tried to help by calling the manager about another room and another person who may be checking out. But there was nothing he could do. My brother ended up moving (he had already checked in) from a 2 bedroom to the studio. We thought the problem was solved until we woke up the next morning and had no water in the shower upstairs so four adults had to share one shower. We told the front desk about the water problem but it was obvious they did not care. The rooms were dingy and not clean!||Friday night I received two texts from my credit card company. We had been charged for three nights instead of two. I immediately called the front desk and I was told by AJ that he would correct the problem. I have not credited yet.||The breakfast bar was not good. The area was cramped and all the food had to be microwaved so nothing was fresh. There was some fruit available and some yogurt. There was no one stocking the bar.||Do not stay in this hotel! To quote another reviewer, yuck! Yuck! Yuck! If I could rate this hotel lower than one star, I would! We will not be back!!||

I have stayed at this location one other time for a work function. We chose it because it was the only hotel that fit 6 people in one place without costing an arm and a leg. We didn't have issues last year, but this year I woke up the following morning with 2 bites on my hand, a bite on my arm and three on my cheek. I work in the multi-family industry so I have dealt with this issue before. I emailed the manager letting him know that the room we stayed in needed to be treated immediately for bed bugs. 4 days later, I still have not received an email back. Apparently management does not find bed bugs to be of high importance. I came home, treated everything I had taken to the hotel before I brought it into my apartment and still had pest control come out, inspect and treat my home as a prevention. ||||Stay far away from this hotel if you do not want to deal with bed bug issues. If management does not treat the room we were in, it's only a matter of time before every room is infested. Save yourself time, money and a lot of hassle and stay else where!

So the room was spacious, and the hotel itself is located very close to MSU's East Neighborhood and a CATA bus stop (#1). Unfortunately those are the only two good points I can state. The staffs were not rude, but they're not friendly either. They just moved around us as if we don't exist. The pool was dark green. There were cobwebs on the railings and staircases. The laundry room smelled. The mattress under the sofa was yellow underneath. The breakfast was limited. I don't even know if anyone is still taking care of this hotel! After our two-nights stay here we moved to University Quality Inn, which has a lower star rating on Google than this place. BUT they're actually so much better. Thus this review was born.

Dishes were not cleaned...nasty moldy food was stuck to them (literally all of them). Wall paper coming off in some places, fire alarm kept going off...smelled of weed and had a big fight break out on the property and the police had to be called..very scary! Breakfast was not good and we had to climb very icy stairs to our room. Other than that, the room was nice and spacious for 6 ppl.

I made the reservation through Priceline for a night of stay in June, they charged my credit card again for $152.56. I called the hotel and was told it will be refunded to me within 5 business days. There is no refund after that period, and now it is way passed five business days and there is still no refund. The burden is on me and the credit company to recover the money. This is a dishonest business and deliberately attempt to cheat the customer. Don't give this place your credit number. I stayed at Choice Hotels many times, never once this type of thing happened to me.

I really don't have the time to being doing this review...and I never do reviews...but feel the need to here. My husband and I stayed the night of May 2nd, 2015 so as to be near our grandson at MSU. Upon arriving we noticed that the area where they serve continental breakfast had not been swept and was in desperate need of mopping. It was 4 pm so I think there had been ample time. It was our first stay here and at that point we were afraid to go see our room. Our room was clean enough...although the bathroom door was filthy...something that should only take a wiping now and then as you are cleaning...and the mattress's were very old...the bed my husband slept in...the mattress was totally broke down...and uncomfortable. Its sad that you do not replace your mattress's and pay attention to detailed cleanliness...it could really be a nice place...but as is...I would not come back and could not recommend to anyone.
