Such a nice, spacious place to stay, especially on our first night in Alaska following long flights from the UK. Heather was extremely welcoming and we had a lovely chat in the morning before we left for Valdez. The apartment was easy to find late at night (despite our tiredness), parking was easy and there was masses of room for us to unpack and make ourselves at home. The big fridge was stocked with lots of appetizing fresh food for our breakfast (including fruit, home made granola & delicious bread) and even fresh milk for tea - Gardenside got our best Alaskan breakfast during our 3 week trip. Excellent lodging and highly recommended.

We stayed at Gardenside B&B the last two days of our trip through Alaska, and it was a perfect end to a amazing trip! We were greeted very friendly by Doug and he showed us around. What a very spacious and very clean B&B. We loved our own entrance, the separate living room and bathroom. The fridge and dresser were stuffed with everything we needed for breakfast (and more). The second day we met Heather and had a very nice conversation. There was an issue with the internet connection and Heather got it fixed immediately! The B&B is in a quiet neighborhood. Heather and Doug are very nice people, we felt very welcome!

Absolutely one of the best B&B we have ever stayed at!! Heather has thought of everything to make your stay wonderful. VERY comfortable queen size bed-Great night's sleep and fridge filled with everything you need for a great, healthy, and yummy breakfast. When we arrived and got settled a bit, I opened the fridge and it was filled with homemade bread, homemade granola, fresh eggs from her chickens (YES, fresh eggs from her chickens!!), yogurt, Kona coffee from her sister in Hawaii, milk, creamer and some other breakfast items. You DO have a full kitchen and table with 4 chairs so you can have a nice, relaxing delicious breakfast. My husband even made the fried eggs in the morning! They were amazing!! We toasted some of the homemade bread to go with them-SO good!! Very easy to stay here for a longer stay because you DO have a full kitchen. Heather is truly another Martha Stewart and she loves to make sure you are happy and have everything you need. Super hostess!!!

My friend & I stayed here in August for a total of four nights. We were pleased with how clean and roomy our mini-apartment was. The owners, Heather and Doug, were helpful, friendly, and generous. They stocked the little refrigerator with lots of healthy breakfast choices, ranging from fresh eggs to various yogurts, homemade breads and granola, and lots of fresh fruit. The rooms are nicely decorated with lovely art pieces throughout. It is a pleasant walk through greenbelt and residential areas if you stay on side streets like E St. rather than busy ones C St. Highly recommended!

We were considering booking a hotel in Anchorage but when we saw Heather's web page, we knew that this was the place in which we wanted to spend our first night in Alaska. The suite is a short and easy drive from Anchorage airport and is in a lovely neighbourhood and we immediately felt at home having a cup of tea in the garden with the chickens. The suite is spacious and comfortable and nicely furnished with many personal touches. We had a good night's sleep on the comfy bed and pillows and Heather had left some very nice items for our breakfast.. cereals and home made granola and some lovely artisan bread and muffins, butter, jams and honey. The fridge was stocked with milk and fruit juice....a very nice breakfast. The WiFi was good and we were a short drive from supermarkets, shops and downtown. Best of all, meeting Heather was like meeting up with an old friend. As well as being very hospitable, she was just the nicest person to get along with. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer, but we loved our road trip to Alaska, so we will hopefully return again to this little gem in the near future.

Our family enjoyed four wonderful days at the very comfortable and very well done Gardenside Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed the space and privacy of the basement unit as well as the homey feeling of staying in a neighborhood vs in a hotel. The location is fantastic- we were literally 10 mins away from EVERYTHING in Anchorage, giving us loads of time to explore. Everything was set up for maximum comfort and included many things that made our toddler VERY happy: an entire shelf of children's books, a roll away bed just for him, the adorable little stove/dishes, the toys and blocks, and of course, the chickens! We all agreed that Gardenside was our favorite stay over the 10 day, 3 city trip. Thank you to Heather and Doug for providing such an amazing home base to our Alaska trip!

I am so pleased our B&B worked so well for you and your family. We love sharing our home with travelers and we especially enjoy it when the children are in tow ;-)

Heather is the best hostess with lots of excellent suggestions of things to see, places to eat. You feel as if you have known her forever. The apartment was clean, clean, clean and perfectly furnished. You do need to go down some stairs to reach it and that might be a problem for someone using a walker. We also rented a car at the airport and were very glad to have it. You want to drive to Kincaid Park at dusk to see the moose that come out to feed. And, although downtown Anchorage is not far away, it was more than our 70 + bodies wanted to try on a bike. Much more pleasant than a hotel room with Heather's home made goodies.

Heather met us at the gate and led us down to a basement apartment, which was roomy and contained essentials. We were expecting a B and B , it's more like self catering apartment, with a help yourself breakfast from the fridge. In the fridge there were cereals, fruit, jam, nice bread, jam , yoghurt and milk. Heather was friendly and helped us orientate and recommended places to go and kindly booked a taxi.|| I found it noisy as it's a basement apartment, as you can hear footsteps upstairs and water running down the pipes, on one occasion really early in the morning and late at night.Late one evening the noise of the planes taking off or landing at the airport was really intrusive. ||We stay at lots of B/B and review everything, despite the friendly welcome I did not think it was deluxe.||It's about a 25 minute walk into town, and very close to a park and numerous cycleways, we had a great hike one afternoon.
