Triplicane Bharathi Mess Vegetarian restaurant

Triplicane, Chennai boasts of umpteen eateries in a budget friendly range. Another vegetarian option is Bharathi Mess on Pycrofts Road - Akbar Street junction. A small, modest but happening outlet with limited seats. The ambience is basic with snug seatings. One needs to make the bill before being seated for a serving. Currently, they serve only lunch (between 11.30 am to 3.30 pm). A varied tiffin variety for dinner is expected soon. Now for the limited fare - bowl of hot steaming rice accompanied by mixed veggies sambar, tomato rasam, senai karakuzhambhu, keerai, potato curry, tomato paruppu kootu, mixed lentils sundal, buttermilk, pickles, a pinch of salt, ragi kali and a packet comprising dry potato wafers, paruppu vadai, a ragi laddoo for dessert and an amla to cleanse your palate, post meal. All this for Rs.125/-. One can't help feeling replete and beaming on the way out.

We visited this Mess on 13/07/2025. It is a compact place with 25 seating capacity. It's neat. Well-maintained. Quick service. Traditional Tamil cuisine. Very Reasonably priced at Rs 125/- for limited meal. Sufficient quantity. Good quality.

For just ₹125, they served a spread that was both nutritious and satisfying. The meal started with a bowl of steaming hot rice, accompanied by two delicious side dishes – flavorful spinach and comforting paruppu kootu. Then came the classics – piping hot sambar, tangy rasam, rich buttermilk, and a perfectly balanced puli kolambu. The surprise didn’t stop there. They served soft and wholesome ragi kali, crispy potato chips, a refreshing amla to cleanse the palate, and a sweet ragi ball to end the meal on a delightful note. To top it off, they even gave a small portion of sprouts to begin with, making this a truly well-balanced and nourishing meal. It’s rare to find a place that serves such healthy, homely, and satisfying food at this price. No fancy frills, just pure taste, tradition, and value. If you are anywhere near Triplicane, make sure to call ahead and grab a lunch here. You’ll leave with a full stomach and a happy heart.

Yes, it is functioning after renovation. New avathar. Only limited meals is available for a limited time for four hours,1130-1530 . Food quality very good as usual. Buy a meals token. Self sevice. For a Mess of this kind of restaurant, its ambience, cleanliness, staff service are much better than others. See photos

We tried the Lunch meals and for 125 rs it was a good variety of items along with some steamed grains, ragi koozhu and few other healthy options. The service was good and the A/C was perfect for the weather. There are only a few seats so during busy times you will wait for seats but is totally worth it.

Always favourite shop since 2016 mostly i have my breakfast and dinner here sometimes lunch meals I don't have that much photos to post but trust me I'm regular customer of this mess since 7 years What ever in the menu will be fantastic and hygienic In 2016 it's a self service with affordable price But, now they serves and price also increased compare to other hotels But, taste and quality of the mess remains the same My suggestion is cost cut the price by 10 - 20 percent again introduce self service it will be beneficial for bachelors and daily eaters. Best recommendations here, must try Idiyappam vada curry Garlic dosa (top notch) Veg meals (Best and better) Sumuthi milk

This was a random mess i visited when i was roaming near marina beach for breakfast 😍 This place didnt disappoint us 🤷🏻‍♂️ This is a decent spot for breakfast for vegetarian as its a pure veg mess. They have different types of dosas such as Keera dosa, poondu (garlic) dosa etc . I tried both and ghee roast . The poondu dosa was the best i would say 🤤 as the taste of Garlic with some spices mixed with sambar and chutney gives you a heavenly feel for breakfast 😍😍🤤🤤 The smell of the gheee roast would take you down for sure 😍 They also have beverages such as coffee tea etc...but couldnt try them as they didnt serve them on the day we went . Cons would be limited seating options and parking would be quite difficult as this is located inside a small street . I kinda liked the food 😍 So you can try if you are looking for any other options apart from ratna cafe or rayar mess near marina beach.
