Taluk hospital is the best government hospital situated at Ottapalam. The service is inexpensive and medicine is free. Initially after you reach the hospital you need to get the ticket for OP inside the block which is situated behind the Main Block. Next you have to wait in queue for consulting a doctor and it won't take much time. After consulting you present the prescription which is inside the block. Not every medicine will be available and hence the will ask you to purchase from outside. Spacious parking space is available and wheelchair accessible entrance. One of the good Government Hospital in Palakkad district. Situated on the Ottappalam Cherplassery Road, nearly 1.5 km from Ottappalam. The hospital is having doctors in almost all specialties. They are having facilities for cataract operations. The hospital is famous for free Dialisis, up to 50 persons per day. Ottappalam Municipality, MP and MLA are helping and monitoring the functions of the Hospital. The doctors and staffs are the wealth of this hospital.
It's one of the best govt hospital for common people, Almost every departments are available here and good doctors are also present, but need more facilities especially LAB tests and infrastructure

Pleased to mention that This Hospital is maintaining good standard. The most important things to mention is that " All staff are very polite and courteous while interacting with public and patient.". Also you will never feel any irritating smell. My appreciation and gratitude to the concerned authorities.
Staff shortage is the biggest problem faced by this hospital. And all govt hospitals face this problem. Govt is running todays hospitals with age old staff pettern and its affecting our health delivery system. Over time work and huge patient load forces doctors to spend less time on each patients to cover their op and causality loads. Instead of turning against these hospital administration we should turn towards the govt and demand facilities. Govt need to post more doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, lab technicians, pharmacists. Govt plans new health programs and ministers inaugurates them and claims the credit of it without giving proper man power and money to run them. After this drama its all upon the administration of hospitals and limited number of staffs to run these numerous facilities. Cant review this hospital without giving a note on the problems facing it. This hospital needs more facilities. More staffs, more equipments in causlity, icu, wards, op. Thanks to the present office staffs, doctors and other staffs , this hospital is running smoothly.
