I attended Sunday Mass here, this church is believed to have been established by St. Thomas the Apostle, making it one of the oldest continuously functioning Christian churches. The peaceful setting and the traditional prayers in the Syriac-Malayalam language made the whole atmosphere feel very holy and special. The church's old stone walls and quiet, simple interior made the place feel special. Attending the service in such a historic church was a peaceful experience.

The church's said to be the arapally (half church/chapel) established by St. Thomas the Apostle around AD 63. According to the recorded history, over the last two millenia, the local Hindu Rajas protected and offered patronage to the church. The church's structure's totally different from the regular churches I've visited either in the Greek Orthodox areas, the RC areas or in Anglican/Lutheran/Baptist Christendom. Its predominantly made of stone, with its pillars reminiscent of an old Roman or Greek structure, the likes of which one would expect more in Sicily or Greece. Some very old inscriptions and sculptures of the cross (different from the Latin and Greek crosses) can be seen - one of the crosses is said to have been carved by the Apostle himself. A relic of St. Thomas is present inside. I have been visiting the church for decades. During my interactions with the clergy, I found them to be very helpful and welcoming. The church's a very peaceful and spiritual place - or more accurately, it had been a very peaceful place. During my trip last week, I noticed that the beautiful, age-old wooden porch had been removed - one only hopes that the mangement would put it back after some restoration and would resist the tempation to "modernise" the church building. Some 40 years ago, the place was more peaceful and less built up, one could almost imagine watching St. Thomas go to the chapel to pray. I highly recommend the Arapally.

Beautiful experience visiting this holy place build by St. Thomas, direct disciple of Jesus Christ himself. One can see a small cross in the chapel carved by St. Thomas himself. The building looks and feels ancients blessed with the vibes of the great ones. The inner chapel has a distinct air of silence amidst a small bustling town. Met the revered head priest there who happily pointed out the relics of St Thomas and allowed us to photograph those.

There are no words to describe. Looks extremely old. Established in 63 AD. This happens to be the "half church" / chapel established by St. Thomas. A nostalgic feeling when you enter this orthodox church. There are some very old stone carvings plus in a glass case that says a relic of St. Thomas. Overall, it was a very good feeling and.... PLEASE DON'T MISS THIS CHURCH worth every bit of your time and effort to be here and pray.

16th Jan 2023 Visited the church which is the oldest in the world built in AD 63 . The place is called Thiruvathamcode previously known as Thiruvathamcore. Well maintained especially the church is preserved as it is established in AD 63.The church compound has two olive trees with olives and a well which was built at that time which never gets dry. Worth visiting

Truly blessed and peaceful place. Was fortunate to spend two nights at the International Pilgrim Center attatched to the church. The historic character of this church founded by St. Thomas himself in the first century AD reflects the ancient heritage and indigenous presence of Christianity in India. The Indian Orthodox Church has preserved the ancient features of this church painstakingly, and the expansion of the building complex has been in tune with these aesthetic and spiritual sensibilities. The monastic priests in charge of this church are prayerful, friendly and hospitable. Divine grace is ever present here.
Thank you
