Very beautiful scenic beauty of the place. The wind of waterside of the dam will make you calm. The road through the dam is very beautiful and clean. This is the border of West Bengal and Jharkhand. Must visit place

Panchet Dam was the last of the four multi-purpose dams included in the first phase of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). It was constructed across the Damodar River at Panchet in Dhanbad district in the Indian state of Jharkhand, and opened in 1959. The Damodar forms the border between Dhanbad district of Jharkhand and Purulia district of West Bengal, before meeting the Barakar at Dishergarh and flowing fully through West Bengal.[3] Panchet Dam has been constructed a little above its confluence with the Barakar.[4] While Dhanbad district is on the northern bank of Panchet reservoir, Purulia district is on the southern bank. Panchet Hill rises above Panchet Dam. Panchet Dam is 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from Chirkunda on Grand Trunk Road, and 54 kilometres (34 mi) from Dhanbad. It is 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Asansol. The nearest railway station is at Kumardubi, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) away, on the Grand Chord line. The Damodar was once an endemic flood-prone river. The Maithon and Panchet dams, constructed in 1957 and 1959 respectively, have significantly reduced daily and annual discharge and also largely eliminated the extremes of flow so that ten-year recurrence interval floods have been reduced to half. Sediment trapping in reservoirs and the lack of flushing due to reduced peak discharge have inevitably transformed the lower Damodar basin into an ecologically imbalanced area.

Lovely and safe place for picnic. You can visit the place with family. There is no such vulgarity spreading environment like other picnic sport or parks /

This dam is built over the West Bengal Jharkhand border for hydroelectric power. I suggest visiting this place either in the early morning or at the evening as at noon you will be sunburned by the scorching heat of the sun. There is not much to see in this place so only visit here if you have enough time. Only some boats and small fishes can be observed.

The Panchet Dam is located about 54 km from Dhanbad in Jharkhand. The dam gets its name from the nearby Panchet Hill that rises above the dam. It is a favourite tourist spot and easily accessible for day trips from Dhanbad and Asansol. Fishing is a favourite activity here. At a drive of half an hour from Panchet Dam is the beautiful Garpanchkot at the foothills of the Panchet Hill. Home to the ruins of the temple and the historic fort, a visit to Garpanchkot is recommended while visiting Panchet Dam. Snake Park near the dam is another popular attraction.

Great view, water reservoir. On May enjoy the view on your way to Maithon dam from Purulia.

Nice dam to visit with friends and family but it's only good for view as you can see small fishes in water easily near to land and if you will visit to this place visit the snake park its nearby it will be a great experience for you and this dam is too big as compared to maithon but this dam is only used for water reservoir not for making electricity and if you want to just see the dam if you stop the car or your vehicle on road and have a great view from above. There are also stairs to go down and touch the water or from there you can easily see fishes which are looking so much nice . My advice is you all to go for this dam and snake park too at same time as both will be your great experience and entry fees for that is just 20rs and below 5 years of age they are not taking any money it's free for them

This dam is in West bengal & Jharkhand border, inaugurated in 1959, it is the fourth of the 4 multi-purpose dams that fall under the first phase of Damodar Valley Corporation. Please visit this place either in the morning or in the afternoon to avoid the sun heat. Panchet Park is just beside the dam. From there one can get the view of the dam.
