Municipal Recreation Ground - Recreation center in Alappuzha - Alappuzha, India

This ground has been a part of Alappuzha's evolution with some of the country's greatest statesmen like Jawaharlal l Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, EMS, AKG,Khan Abdul Gaffer Khan, having addressed huge gatherings. The ground has also seen the rise of many sports men. Sources with the municipality said the recreation ground' which has 3.3 acre land near Alappuzha beach was leased to the municipality for 99 years when it was part of the erstwhile Travancore Kingdom However, district police chief V M Mohammed Rafique said that the ground is under the ownership of the police. "But I am not sure. I think the land is under the full control of the state government and the police are ready to obey any decision of state government regarding the recreation ground,'' he added.

This ground is very beautiful to watch, one of the large ground here. There is railway track is near to the ground that is also very beautiful. This is very large ground that owned by municipal corporation. Most this ground is used for driving practices, and guys are practicing cricket here,I'm also played cricket here, learn driving here. The Independence day and Republic day parade are held at this ground. This ground is use for multi purpose. The ground is busy with most of the days in a week. Cricket practice and driving are in mostly.

I am working in the railway level cross near to this ground. This is one of the best ground in Alappuzha. So many tournaments are organised here. Actually this is Helipad and Police parade ground. Motor vehicle inspection is held here every day. This is used as as a parking ground in the seasonal occasions. But in the rainy season, the ground will be full of water. Alappuzha beach and watchtower nearer to the ground.

Good for evening walks, a bit of exercise, or just jaywalking. With the beach nearby, evenings are pleasant though a bit humid. A newly opened swimming pool adds to the amenities around the place. The ground is good enough to play football or cricket.
