Maria's South Indian Cooking Class - Cooking Class in Kochi - Ernakulam, India

Maria has 20 years of cooking experience and shares so much of it during this session. I like that this was as much about learning the usage of spices and ingredients as it was about the 5 dishes we prepared as a group. Fast response setting up the booking. Good value compared with other much more expensive formal cooking school options in Kochi. You'll get to know your co-students on this one and have some fun. You'll definitely learn a lot about the quantities and order to use spices, cooking temperatures and more. Would suit any level of cooking experience. Course billed as 2.5 hours but our group was there for 4. On south end of Bhurger St, signed as a language school, but cookery occurs in back kitchen too.

It was a treat to get an exclusive lesson from such a great chef. Maria encouraged us to not be so concerned with adhering strictly to written recipes and instead to learn a more theoretical style of cookery.

Maria taught us how to make some wonderful vegetarian dishes, and we learned a lot about the use of different Indian ingredients! Very good teacher, and her husband George is very nice too!

Maria's South Indian cooking class is a must do experience while visiting Kochi. She is an expert on spices and how to properly balance them to make delicious dishes. She very carefully explained the recipes and cooking processes. Printed recipes were provided to take home. It was a group hands on experience. There were 8 people and we shared in the cooking duties. Overall a wonderful experience!

Class itself was really useful - Maria has lots of knowledge about spices and really teaches the foundations of South Indian cooking so you can make it at home yourself without needing a recipe. Maria is friendly and the food is delicious!

Lovely, knowledgeable woman who welcomed us into her home to learn the theory of Indian cuisine and cook a lovely meal with 5 dishes. Everything was chopped beforehand so we could spend more time on the cooking. We feel much more informed now and would love to come back and cook with her again!

Fantastic experience. It was so lovely to meet Maria alongside her husband George. I felt very welcome in their home, and learnt so much about the key principles of South Indian cooking. Overall, it was one of the top highlights of my trip through India and I would recommend it to family and friends in a heartbeat.
