Lighthouse Beach Tourist attraction

Very nice beach and very private beach. Very clean. Some rock outcrops make it more fun.

"Namma bhatkal, Namma hemme" Bhatkal is one Karnataka's oldest towns and has a rich past. It is regarded as one of the oldest ports in India. Located in Uttara Kannada, Bhatkal is 130 kilometers away from Karwar and has some lovely beaches. The town is located on NH 17 and is easily accessible via the Konkan railway... History: Being an old port town, Bhatkal is situated in the middle of the Western Ghats and along the Arabian Sea. The place was the main port in the 16th century during the Vijayanagar kingdom and was known for the two temples Jain Chandranath Basadi and Vijayanagar temple that are engraved with animal pictures. There is a huge fort behind the temples that is said to be renovated by Tipu sultan, the ruler of Mysore... Bhatkal Beach: Travellers can visit Bhatkal Beach while heading towards the port town of Bhatkal if time allows. Surrounded by Western Ghats, hills and coconut trees, Bhatkal Beach is located along the Arabian Sea. It was used as a major port in the 16th century during the rule of Vijayanagara Empire. Along with Murudeshwara Fort, this beach is also recognised for two major shrines, Vijayanagara Temple and Jain Chandranath Basadi that had animal pictures carved. It is also known for several medieval shrines situated at a hillock located in the vicinity called Kanduka Giri. The lighthouse located at the beach allows tourists to enjoy a striking view of the sea along and the nearby areas. The months between August and October are considered to be the best time to visit this pristine beach... Bhatkal Light House: Bhatkal Light House, built in the year 1891, is a notable attraction of Bhatkal and should be visited if time permits. This structure is located to the south of the entrance of Bhatkal River, atop a hill, just adjacent to the remains of Bhatkal Fort. It used to be a white stone masonry tower that was converted into a light house when a flashing light and a storm warning signal mast were fitted here in the year 1936. Therefore, now it has a double wick lamp placed within lantern as well as a stone masonry column. During 1956-1958, a new lighthouse tower with attached auxiliary light cabin and fog signal baffle wall were positioned on the hill. On 21st March 1998, metal halide lamp replaced the main source of light from this lighthouse... Kadavinakatta Dam: Kadavinakatta Dam, constructed across Venkatapur River, is among the major sources of water supply for Bhatkal. The end-of-season rainfalls signify the positive sign of water being for the entire period. Tourists can visit the attraction if time permits, though swimming here should be avoided as it is extremely risky...

One of the cleanest beaches in Karnataka. Only downside is the dept is high within few meters. Won't not recommend for swimming. Only professional swimmer can swim. Best time to visit in mid day.

Im from bhatkal i do visit lighthouse sometimes I have better feels good vewis and amazing peacefully place.

The view is amazing... Although there's less space available for huge crowd to roam around. Perfect for couples visit.. Perfect for peace of mind. Love it!

Bhatkal Light House is located by the remnants of a fort on the hilltop. A concrete road leads up to the lighthouse. Established in 1891, the lighthouse was earlier a stone masonry column with double wick lamp, at the time when it was erected. However, it was between 1956 and 1958 that new masonry Lighthouse Tower, a Fog Signal baffle wall and an Auxiliary Light Cabin were erected. But the fog signal was stopped from usage in the year 1988. It is located on the southern side towards the entrance
