Hotel Villa Des Gouverneurs - Hotel in Puducherry - Pondicherry, India

It's a nice heritage place at the apt place , located at a walkable distance from beach and also to french colony streets. Service was very good. Very friendly staff. Room was quite small but was cozy. Commode in the bathroom was very old, could be replaced. For 3 days we stayed, there was no cleaning done. This could be improved.

Centrally located place in white town. Equidistant from the beach and the market. Location is better than some of the other located heritage buildings. The reception staff is very very sweet and supportive and eager to help in every possible way. The only thing needs improvement is the breakfast spread and wifi connectivity. In the town that is know for the cafes and French cuisine, they need to increase the spread.

We booked this hotel 2days back. Rooms were clean, room service was good. Bed and toilet was clean. Towels, bed sheet was clean. Breakfast was very good. They take personal care for the guest. All staffs were well mannered. Specially Mr Ambros and Miss Patricia very helpful and for all help they are available immediately. I look forward to stay when ever will be in pondicherry.

You can't get a better pet-friendly place in Pondy at such a central location. The beach & most note-worthy places are just a stone's throw away. The place is a well maintained French villa with character. Somewhere between a homestay and a hotel. So, go there with eyes wide open without expecting the luxury and efficiency of a star hotel.

Enjoyed this lovely antique place at Pondy... And what beautiful furniture. Took lots of wonderful pictures. And best location ever right opposite to manakula Vinayagr temple in French town. Front desk girls were very sweet and friendly. Had a small book store adjacent to it. No breakfast option was available inside hotel but does not matter as many great restaurants were available outside the hotel.

Never recommend this property to stay. Management is rude, they said they don't care. We stayed in this Hotel for 4 days. We booked 2 rooms. In one room AC was not working we complained about this but they said we can't do anything. We clean filter ourselves. On 1 July night , it was heavily rain and thunderstorms, in our rooms rain water is flooded in room and bathroom. When we told this he said I don't care. Just pay and GET OUT. He said this is your problem not my problem. We said this is your hotel so this is your problem. He even didn't ready to tell his name and designation. We have videos of room and this person's behaviour. He shouted on us , misbehaved with us. We told him to lodge FIR, he said u just pay and do whatever you want. Finally we lodged FIR, cops came still that person was hide for sometime and then come back in front of police coz we have video any how , police will identify. We went to police station and they send their accountant for settlement. In police station management person said that they don't have money that's why they are doing this. But inspector said this kind of complaint is rare, there are rooms available in 500 rs but they want luxury and paying so much amount. He also told him that if they went in court , it will be big problem for you and your management. Police said just pay half hour of the remaining amount of booking. Police warns the management person to apologise and resolve this by giving half amount of remaining booking.

Thus is an awesome place to stay. Beautiful villa with a French history. It is near to promenade and a lot of touristy places. Plenty of nice eateries around. The rooms are big and clean. For us the big part is that it is pet friendly. The staff are all helpful. The front office team, the housekeeping, security..very homely and friendly. Their manager, two of the front office staff and also the housekeeping are all nice people. The breakfast though spartan is tasty. You can order some snacks during the day. They also allow swiggy or zomato. Over will highly recommend.
