Great Guest House - White Town - Hotel in Puducherry - Pondicherry, India

We booked the room on Make my trip and received a confirmation but when we went to check in, the receptionist said that there were no empty rooms. We spoke to the owner of the facility and we were given a room at this place. While I must say that the room is good, the stairway is soooooooo small. It is like climbing the stairs in Charminar in Hyderabad. One good thing also is that the Rock beach is just 5 minutes away from this place. I would not recommend this place if you are willing to spend 3k for one day.

The name justifies greatness with certain limitations. It has total 5 rooms, (AC rooms, but in one of 2 rooms I booked, AC was not working, additional fan was present. The room with AC also had mini refrigerator). The staff was very nice. It is approximately 250meters away from Ashram/Manakula Vinayak Temple, from sea beach and from restaurants. Market is bit far (close to 1km from here).

Small room with minimal amenities. The only good thing is it's proximity to the beach. Otherwise book it for a 700 and not more. Small room with cheap bedding. Single room on each floor and you have to lock 3 doors when you go out. Only one caretaker who doesn't understand english or hindi properly. Don't pay more than 800 900 for this.

The Hotel is located in the prime location near to Promenade Beach and also it is worth the money. The hotel is neat and clean, well maintained. The staffs are very humble and welcoming. Only drawback is that they don't have restaurant. But there are many restaurants and cafes nearby. Overall the stay was pleasant and worth the money if any is looking for budget stay in such a prime location.

## WARNING ## DO NOT THINK TO STAY HERE. No minimum amenities available. Very narrow staircase to go up and we got room on 2nd floor. It was nightmare to take our bags up. Parking on the road. And no one available after 9PM. If you need drinking water you have to buy it from outside.

Room is neat and clean. But TV is not working. When asked , covid was told as reason. Even bulb got fuse off. Pillow is so thin, no normal bedsheet, only woolen bedsheet available. AC available with good cooling.

Review is for another property of the same owner, as they won't allow you to check in here after 06:00 pm due to the unavailability of the staff.+ve- Near to the City- Easy access to the shops and restaurants- No smoking allowed in corridors and inside the room- Very supporting caretaker - SenthilImprovement Areas- No lift, you need to climb with your bags to the 2nd floor- Owner will promise so many things, but it will not happen after 2 days of stay as AC had not worked or repaired- No telephone to connect with the caretaker, you need to climb down for all requirements- On 2nd-floor rooms, Due to the sliding window, it's very easy to get our belongings from outside corridor.- No cupboard to keep your belongings- You need to hang your clothes over the chair

It was nice stay, the rooms are very clean and neat. The staffs are very courteous and helpful.Wonderful service from the people over there with proper guidance. All amenities are good. Overall it was amazing stay.
