Godavari Pushkar bathing Ghat - Basara - Featured Reviews (1306)
Many families come to Basara to perform the "Akshara abhyasam" ceremony for the children before they start formal school education. The children perform the exercise of letters, and devote books, pens, pencils notebooks to the goddess of knowledge. The Puja at the temple starts at 4 am in morning with Abhishekam which carries on for an hour. At 5 o'clock they start the Alankarana whereby the new sarees are adorned to the goddesses. The whole atmosphere is very pious and pure. At 6 am, in the rays of the morning sun, the aarti starts at the temple after which the prasadam is given to the devotees.
At this time water is less but OK, authorities should concentrate on cleanness and sanitation, because these represents our culture and tradition.
The rates are absurdly high and they don't even let you dip your legs in godhavari river had the worst experience been visiting this place from years and this time it felt like total waste of money don't go to boat rides
This is bathing ghat on the banks of river Godavari. Changing rooms available and you also get boats here. Around 1km from the main temple of Basara.

Special poojas and celebrations are held at the temple during Maha Shivaratri, beginning 15 days before (Vasantha Panchami) and continuing 3 days after the festival. Devi Navarathrulu is celebrated for ten days during Dasara. The temple also has a Mahakali idol situated on the 1st floor very near to the main temple. Devotees often go to the nearby mountain which has an Idol of Goddess Saraswati on the top of the rock. The image of Lakshmi stands besides the Goddess Saraswati in the sanctum sanctorum. Due to the presence of Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kali, Basara is considered as the abode of the divine trinity.
There was no proper place to bathe and the place that was there was overrun with boats Devasthanam is the way to provide proper bathing facilities to the devotees.
Godavari bathing ghat, located about a km from the Gnana Saraswati Temple in Basar, was established in its present form during the time of the Godavari pushkaram several years back The steps leading to the water and the water itself close to the ghat area are not kept clean, and are dangerously slippery Though it is written in several places that the area is plastic-free, almost all the vendors use plastic carry bags and the place and the water is littered with plastic and thermocol... Boating here is a pleasant experience when there is no crowd, when the fare is reasonable... 23/10/20 The water lever in the Godavari was quite high. The water was halfway up the steps leading into the river. Seeing this after 2012. There is no changing room and one feels uncomfortable having to change clothes without any privacy.
Religious emotions attached to the this place as well as the importance as tourist destination. Also its having great view because of the beautiful nature around it..With silence. U must came early in the morning around 5 .It's having another level of experience with sunrise & river. Lastly....u must visit if u not visited yet..
