EDEN GARDENS - Park in Kolkata - Kolkata, India

Intended to visit this for long. Adult entry ticket is Rs 20 per head, for children, the lady at the gate fully waived it off on her own. Took my car inside for parking for Rs 50. We got proper electronic receipts for both entry and car parking. The pagoda and its surroundings are exquisite! Pause and savour the experience. It's around 150 years old. Boating facilities are available. We didn't opt for it though. But there was a lady issuing proper receipts again. The West Bengal Forest department nursery should be explored. Take lots of photos and just chill. Lots of vacant spaces for children to run about.

I had a wish to visit this place. It's absolutely fantastic place rounded with green leaves . There have a entry fees of Rs. 20. Park open till 6:00 o clock. You can spend a lot of time here. With in the nature.

Eden Gardens form part of the Maidan around Fort William. The land which was cleared of jungle by the British to create a defensive zone round the fort. Eden Gardens are named after Lord Auckland's sister. They are picturesque - and best known for the nearby cricket pitch. The design style is an Indian interpretation of the Victorian Mixed Style using tropical plants. It follows the design principles of the mixed style rather than its plan shapes.

These days there are more than dozen parks in Kolkata that serve as the favourite strolling area of the City's residents. Elliot Park, Citizen's Park, Eco Park are only to name a few of the biggies. There are also hundreds of smaller ones scattered around different neighbourhoods. But like many other things we owe the concept of parks too, to the Britishers. In those days, it was the height of gentility for the British East India Company's covenanted servants to take their spouses for an evening stroll or moonlight fete. Almost 300 years ago, the first of its kind Park in the then Calcutta was Captain Perin's Garden in Sutanuti area which was later developed into Bagbazar neighbourhood. The Garden was sold in around 1752 and post Plassey Battle, Laldighi or the Dalhousie Square was advanced and used as the public garden. Later on, two more parks were developed on the surrounding grounds of Fort William commonly known as 'Green before the Court'. Those are Eden Garden and Curzon Park. When we talk about Eden Garden, in 99% cases we refer to the internationally famous Cricket Stadium but what we ignore is the fact that the Stadium owes its name to the adjacent park, the brainchild of Lord Auckland, Governor General of India during 1836-42.

You can have a great time here with friends or family. Enchanting green, calm and pleasant environment. The fish playing in the clear water, the birds chirping, instantly soothes the mind. You wouldn't think so close to Babu Ghat, a bustling area of Kolkata. The best time to visit here is in the afternoon. Entry fee is Rs20/person. Toilet facilities are available here.

This park which is maintained by KMDA is sandwiched between Eden garden stadium and Babughat bus stand. Although once it was a glittering sign in British Calcutta now it has passed it's golden days. The Pagoda which is the main attraction is in dire state. The garden is curated well but there are litters in the water body. The entry fee is 10 rupees per person.

Eden Gardens Park is located at Babu Ghat, Kolkata. You have to buy ticket before entering the Park. Ticket price is 20rs only. The park is so beautiful. You can bring your family they will definitely enjoy.

A beautiful park to spend time with your friends and family. It has boat riding, childrens park and a food plaza too. But it needs a bit of maintenance, there was no water in the tap. The toilets were dirty and the basins were broken, not a single drop of water was in the tap. You have to buy packaged drinking water from the food plaza.
