Best time to visit is 1hr after sunset, so you see the city lights from there. The road to the top is slightly elevated, if by 2 wheeler do park it on the side and enjoy the view.

A viewpoint on the way to Chamundi hill top.Great place to stop.Its preferable to stop by while coming back after visiting the temple as this view point is on the DN side of road with divider in between.

Good place to relax preferably in evening. There are local vendors to grab something to eat amazing view. On a weekend the palace illumination looks awesome. There is a binocular point as well

Very good early morning drive. Best view of mysore from hill top. Over weekend it will be crowded. Over weekdays it was less crowded and good parking space with parking fee of 50 rupees for 4 wheeler. If you are going to temple, beware of monkeys. They will snatch all the Pooja items n all and will sit on your shoulders. If the line to temple is moving then it's fine they won't do anything. Shops or hotels are limited to eat. Hotels are little unhygienic near temple so better avoid it. Overall good experience.
